One of the most striking features of winter is the seemingly unbreakable silence produced by the first snowfall.
Especially when you live in a state like Virginia where the mere whisper of the word snow puts people in a frenzy.
Having grown up in the winter wonderland that is Michigan, most of the beauty that people find in snow has been siphoned out of me. But not the awe of the silence. That gets me every time.
